Whilst the Speaker National Assembly, the Deputy Speaker, and the Whip have been running the affairs of the National assembly in a judicious manner, it is regretted that the first meetings of all National Assembly Standing Committees have still not been called despite many promises of parliamentary supremacy.

“Strong, active committees are instrumental in dealing with the complex, varied and demanding nature of parliamentary business. Generally there are as many committees in the House as there are government ministries formed.”

Committees function as a major check on ministries if run the right way. Therefore it is a huge responsibility to be contributing to this checks and balance system. The sooner they meet, the more they meet, the better the legislative oversight over the executive.

I am very pleased to be given a chance to be serving on the following 3 committees: Environment, KANA, and IT. I hope that I will be able to do justice to their role envisioned by the parliamentary architects.
