The “Order of the Day” is the agenda which should be sent to parliamentarians the night before the session starts so that we can prepare our interjections accordingly. The responsibility of making a people friendly agenda lies with the National Assembly Secretariat influenced by the ruling party. Even if opposition brings up (through its submissions to the Secretariat) all of the relevant issues of the people (as can be seen on the parliamentary productivity grid), in the final analysis the Order of the Day determines which issues will be debated. The accountability of each Order of the Day is critical by the awaam for better functioning of parliament.
