As a new comer in the National Assembly I am cognizant of my responsibilities as well as the expectations that the people of Pakistan have from our success as good legislators. It is a role I take seriously. I feel honored to be part of the National Assembly and I intend learning from the seasoned parliamentarians who have truly contributed to parliamentary supremacy, whichever political party they belong to and whichever era they may have lived in.

The following is what I understand my parliamentarian role to be.

(PIPS) A parliamentarian is expected to play three law making roles: an enacter of effective legislation, an overseer of its implementation, and a communicator with constituents. Success in all three areas depends on a member’s capacity to undertake the following tasks:

-To assess a bill in the public interest

-To understand the role of Committees and actively contribute in the same

-To utilize research support to gather facts for in-depth analysis of a bill

-To consistently maintain public input to the legislative process so as to instigate desired social change.

An opposition parliamentarian’s role becomes double critical as it is to keep a watch over government and to give constructive criticism at all times for the well being of Pakistan. Simply put, to support what is good and to oppose what is not.
